We at VOHRA MULTISPECIALITY DENTAL CLINIC would like to emphasize the importance of scheduled ante-pregnancy dental care for couples planning pregnancy.
Usually it is recommended that before getting pregnant the expecting mother should get a thorough dental check up done both clinically and with full mouth x-ray. This would help her to avoid episodes of painful dental emergencies.
WE ADVICE :
1. Full mouth cleaning and polishing to be done.
2. Any cavity to be treated.
3. Any undetected dental problem like RCT, wisdom tooth could be attended to.
Usually during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy there is quite a lot of hormonal changes which affects the mothers body. Many times we have seen people complaining of bleeding gums, pregnancy gingivitis, pregnancy tumors; which all could be avoided if planned dental check up and treatment is done before pregnancy.
It is advised that dental treatment should be avoided in both the 1st and 3rd trimester.
Comparatively 2nd trimester is safe if at all for any dental procedure.
ALSO ALWAYS INFORM ANY CLINIC U R VISITING ABOUT BEING PREGNANT SO ACCIDENTAL X-RAY RADIATION EXPOSURE COULD BE AVOIDED
